Sealing Seal Strip Material and Application
Material: Ethyle Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) seal strip.
Application locations: It is mainly used in three places:
- Between the indoor side glass and the glazing bead.
- Between the outdoor side glass and the window sash.
- Between the window sash and the window frame.
Sealing Solution Comparison Seal strip
Standardized, pre-installed at the factory, reducing the need for labor and additional materials. More recommended.
Manual caulking: The effect is comparable to that of seal strips, but not as standardized.
Seal Strip between Window Sash and Window Frame
Importance: It plays a crucial role in air tightness, water tightness, insulation, and sound insulation performance.
Three-seal system:
- Outdoor side stop seal strip: Water blocking, prevents direct impact of rainwater.
- Middle pressure equalization seal strip (main seal strip): Interlocks with the thermal break strip, forming a vertical isothermal structure, with an interlocking depth of not less than 3mm.
- Indoor side stop seal strip: Prevents moisture evaporation and backflow, serving as the final guarantee.
Inspection of seal strips
Inspection method: In addition to visual inspection, you can also try to see if paper can be pulled out.
Impact of Hinge Type on Sealing
Exposed hinges: Require cutting the indoor side stop seal strip, compromising the integrity of the seal.
Concealed hinges: Recommended for use, maintaining the integrity of the seal.
